never had much use for tubescreamers yet, i've had the standard ts-9 and the ts-9dx. i liked the 4 modes of the dx best. i might try to get a keeley modded one since i like all his other stuff.

There's a Keeley modded Tubescreamer? I gotta check that out. I use a TS-9 reissue and love it. Great pedal, esp. in conjunction with other pedals (i.e. a Rat).

this sounds like a typical james willett response... but my professional opinion on the best tubescreamer is the ggg ITS8. stock ts9 is ok. keeley ts9 (808 mod) is better, but the ggg kit sounds WAY better. i havent really played around with the 4 mode ts but it probably has a similar sound as the ITS8

I woulda bought the wrong ones for sure. Check this out: www.guitarfetish.com/Humbucker-Sized-Guitar-Pickups_c_26.htmlLook at the Dream 90 or Mean 90. Definitely not advising against Duncans but at around $30 a pop you could even try out a few different pickups for the price of one Duncan.

Any of yall ever use a danelectro overdrive pedal or a fulltone ocd? Don't probably really need them cause the VTM is pretty versatile but I was wondering if you guys had ever dabbled with em, what you thought etc.

Yikes. This doesn't sound good. First of all, you can get a JCM 900 or 5150 / 5150 MKII / 6505 for about The same as a new Bugera. Second, ...so you're trying to buy an amp that has problems? Yikes. Lastly, the best sounding Sovtek product is- I've been reading a lot about Bugeras and I'm really interested in buying either the 1990 (Marshall JCM 900 copy) or 6260 (Peavey 5150 copy). The sound quality of the Bugeras are really close if not the same as the amps they're copying, but I've read that many people have had tube/wiring issues within a month of buying them, particularly with models made before 2010. I'm hoping that I get one and ten years from now Bugera ends up being the new Sovtek.

i have the OCD. i really like it. ryan you can come try it out if you want. the vtm does have a lot of gain, but maybe not exactly what you are looking for. i would reccomend trying the OCD with it.
also yeah the sovtek big muff is rad. i should actually see how it sounds with my sovtek mig100. das vidaniya!

why is it weird sounding? whats up with that butcher?

Post by nick on Feb 7, 2011 7:38:55 GMT -5
maybe not so much "weird sounding" as "decides it's going to cut out at random times".
i'm going to bring the butcher to practice on tuesday... feel free to play out of it. i want to see how it sounds (still haven't).

I have a blue MIM fender strat standard which I'm trying to sell for 200, and a peavey XXX cab (straight edge cred) for about the same price. Looking to sell one or both, or trade for a marshall 1960 or equivalent cab. PM or respond here if anyone is interested? thanks.
